Anniversary meanders in Greyton

For our anniversary weekend we went to Greyton, we didn’t really know what to expect seeing as a lot of the places that look AMAZING on the internet seem to be just a big old okay when arriving, but Greyton is what dreams are made of. ¬† We packed some car snacks and headed off for our adventure as soon as we got out of the hustle and bustle of the city it was like pure magic. ¬†The colours of the fields, grazing sheep and extraordinary wind turbines had us oohing and aahing all along the ride. ¬†We kept stopping to take photos of the amazing colours of the fields, ¬†I wish I could live in those fields or at least get a pretty dress in the yellow colour!

When we arrived in Greyton we were kind of bummed to have missed the market, its suppose to be amazing, but we couldn’t manage to get out of bed early for our anniversary. On our arrival we were greeted by an old fashioned horse and buggy car just doing its thing on the road, the streets were a buzz with people trying to take in all the beauty of this wonderful mountainside town. ¬†We decided to walk around the town, exploring all the hidden shops and ended it all off with smoothie at the cutest little tea garden I’ve ever been in. ¬†Maybe next time we will get up early to get to the market on time, maybe even stay in one of the cute little accommodation they have all over the show. ¬†Or maybe I’ll just give up on city life and go live in this incredible little town right now.

How was your weekend? Get up to anything fun. ¬†We’ve been neighbourhood scouting, looking for an area that’s more us and out of the city. It turned out to be a really fun adventure, ¬†seeing alpacas, finding the best shop in the world that sold spaghetti squash and we even found a falafel shop. ¬†Obviously its been a great weekend, hopefully its a sign of a good week!

^^ The yummiest, softest bread around.  I used the same knife that I was cutting swiss chard with to cut the bread, less dishes, but a lot of weird little green pieces on the bread.

Hey friends! I hope all my Canadian friends had an amazing Canada day and all my American friends had a wonderful Independence day! ¬†We’ve been busy, busy, busy, trying to figure everything out, but in between all that we still had some time for a little picnic date. ¬† My weather headaches are still here, sometimes stronger than ever, but nothing a good old slice of freshly baked bread can’t cure. ¬† Here’s to another week, lets make this one even better than the last.

Boulders Beach

Over the weekend we went on a little adventure drive. ¬†With a car at our disposal there was no stopping us! We decided that the gps lady on Google maps was trying to get us to drive into a river, ¬†so we turned her off and just got to places the good old fashioned way, by looking at all the road signs and hoping you don’t miss one! We had the idea of going to Muizenberg to go have a look at the vintage changing areas, but things started progressing and somehow we ended up at boulders beach. ¬†Everything was just so close! It all just felt like one long town.

After all our fast exploring we decided to go find the penguins! So off we set going the completely wrong way and leading a whole bunch of tourist astray.  When we finally realized nothing was on this side, we turned around, watching more people go the way we came from.  We managed to find the penguins just chilling around the board-walk! Penguins are just the cutest, they are like little babies dressed in tuxedos just waddling around! We even saw a Mommy penguin feeding her baby.  They have a barrier between you and the penguins and very strict signage that warns you of the danger of biting penguins.  So I was quite happy to see these little guys from a distance.

As you continue on the little wooden path you get wowed by the amazing beach. ¬†The clearest blue waters, penguins swimming and 540 million year old granite boulders! God’s creations are truly amazing. ¬†Next time I want to have a swim with the penguins and hope they don’t bite my toes.

^^ Kelp seems to be the national smell of Cape town. ¬†I’m not a fan.
