Don’t be fooled by this cute happy face, this guy was really grumpy that it was so hot and bright and we dare take him out. Continue reading
As Mother’s day approaches I feel more and more grateful for this life I have. Continue reading
^^ Amazing Nori wrap. Cauliflower rice with kale, fresh veggies and beetroot hummus for an added bit of amazingness.
^^ We went to a strawberry farm for the biggest, cheapest strawberries of the season! The cutest little farm stall with some angry elderly people ready to elbow anyone they can out of the way.
^^ Really big strawberries.
^^ 25 weeks pregnant. Where did my ribs go?
^^ This entire farm is filled with a crazy amount of scarecrows. If a bird landed on these fields I would be shocked.
^^ Early morning hikes.
^^ So many scarecrows.
^^ Beautiful sunset over the ocean after a visit to family.
How was your weekend? We’ve been walking and hiking all around Sea point and lions head, before we leave for our new place at the end of the month! We decided to visit a cute little strawberry farm I remember visiting as a child, they seem to have gone completely bonkers with the amount of scarecrows the have up, and I hope they don’t get any bird attacks with all those guys around, but who knows, birds do what they want.
25 weeks pregnant and 2 days today. WOW! It feels like I woke up and my ribs somehow disappeared, baby has decided to move into my ribs and kick as hard as possible all the time. Baby seems to be having a lot of fun in my womb and likes throwing parties and mosh pits on the inside daily.
I don’t know if you guys know this about me, but boy, do I love clothes. You can look completely different from just one item of clothing, the magic of clothing is real! It can take a bad day and make it great again! When I feel like I’m having a bad hair day, a fat day, a man, that’s what I look like in photos day, putting on a pretty dress can make any bad day magical. Clothes aren’t the cure for all problems, ( proper psychological help will probably be better) but as a woman sometimes I just have a bad day and a pretty dress is the only therapy that I could ever need.
I even like just looking at clothes online and looking for that perfect little cocktail dress that I can wear for any special occasion, date night or just a fancy dinner for two at home is that one thing that can make every girl’s heart swoon. AisleStyle is that perfect little online shop that sells a whole bunch of amazing dresses for any occasion, looking for an affordable cheap prom dress, they have it, a cute little cocktail dress for a special occasion they have that too! There is nothing like a cute short prom dress or a pretty red prom dress to get my heart racing. They even have affordable wedding and bridesmaids dresses! I love online shopping and I love affordable dresses!
For our anniversary weekend we went to Greyton, we didn’t really know what to expect seeing as a lot of the places that look AMAZING on the internet seem to be just a big old okay when arriving, but Greyton is what dreams are made of. We packed some car snacks and headed off for our adventure as soon as we got out of the hustle and bustle of the city it was like pure magic. The colours of the fields, grazing sheep and extraordinary wind turbines had us oohing and aahing all along the ride. We kept stopping to take photos of the amazing colours of the fields, I wish I could live in those fields or at least get a pretty dress in the yellow colour!
When we arrived in Greyton we were kind of bummed to have missed the market, its suppose to be amazing, but we couldn’t manage to get out of bed early for our anniversary. On our arrival we were greeted by an old fashioned horse and buggy car just doing its thing on the road, the streets were a buzz with people trying to take in all the beauty of this wonderful mountainside town. We decided to walk around the town, exploring all the hidden shops and ended it all off with smoothie at the cutest little tea garden I’ve ever been in. Maybe next time we will get up early to get to the market on time, maybe even stay in one of the cute little accommodation they have all over the show. Or maybe I’ll just give up on city life and go live in this incredible little town right now.
^^ Walking along the streets.
^^ I was trying to get a better look at this house. Don’t worry it was empty and for sale, its amazing!
^^ Who needs a car.
^^ The hustle and bustle of this little town on the weekend.
^^ Church in the mountains.
^^ Happy Carl.
^^ All smiles
^^ Trying to take a selfie. I think the hair in my face is a good look for me.
^^ A whole lot of pine cones in one spot.
^^ Some people have gnomes in their garden.
^^ I love these crates.
^^ These ostrich feather dusters are way to pretty to clean a house.
^^ I love these pillows.
^^ Cutest little bunny at the art gallery.
^^ cow art.
^^ These shops are just beyond cutesy.
^^ Carl was upset, because hes worn a similar outfit. Who wore it best?
^^ Hire a bike and cycle around the town.
^^ Sheep and drives.
^^ I loved seeing these turbines along the drive.
^^ You know you’ve made it when you’ve got a hot pink house.
^^ We walked from our apartment to the waterfront, when we finally got there exhausted we forgot to look left and right and almost got taken out by a tiny train.
^^ African music serenade.
^^ These seagulls were relentless! They were eyeing a little girl eating fries. It seemed like they would take out a finger for one of her fries.
^^Beautiful flowers on a bench.
^^ These seagulls sure love to photo bomb.
^^ The yummiest black bean and red lentil burger with sweet potato fries. Why go to a restaurant.
^^ pretty little flowers.
^^ Such a handsome man.
How was your weekend? After a lot of planning we finally decided to go for a walk on the beach at melkbos strand. We didn’t expect it to be so windy and sunny all at the same time, and somehow felt like we got frostbite with heatstroke all at the same time. We decided to make a run back to the car for safety! On Sunday we walked to the waterfront from our apartment, I really love walking to places I want to go, its the best way to completely experience a place and see little beautiful things as you wander around. Here is to a wonderful week!
Since getting the car we’ve been planning our hiking adventures, but when Saturday started approaching and we had a large list of what kind of hike we didn’t feel like doing we started feeling kind of hopeless.
The kind of hike we weren’t interested in for the day was a hike that was in the blistering South African sun, anything that required us to pull ourselves up with chains to get over rocks, no heights, because I’m suffering from severe vertigo lately and something kind of mild. We finally settled on Tokai only to get there and be turned away, being a little heartbroken we decided to stop at the Tokai market, only to go into the most depressing market I’ve ever seen. There was only 4 stalls and a guy trying to force coffee on us. So off we set with no clue what to do, but Carl, being the little problem solver he is remembered a interesting looking hike that we drove by.
Newlands forest is amazing! It checked all our boxes and was a wonderfully cool walk surrounded by beautiful trees and mountains. Cute families taking hikes together, older people trying to stay fit and all the wonderful dogs. I don’t know why all dog owners have to pull their dogs away from me when I’m obviously trying to lure it with mind control and just a look in my eye that says “lets play”. Don’t apologize for your dog coming to me! I wan’t to stroke them all!
The views are to die for, the magical whimsical forest makes you feel like you’re a pretty, pretty Princess and the Fall leaves just create a wonderful feel.
^^ For some reason I don’t think anyone lives here.
^^ We get really excited when its not blistering hot and it feels like Fall! Leaves glorious leaves, how I’ve missed you!
^^ What a view, the mountain is nice too.
^^ I love the color of these leaves.
^^A kaleidoscope of color.
^^ Advice from nature, Everything can be a beautiful flower.
^^ Cape town has done horrible things to my hair. Its darker and its always trying to take me back in time to the 60’s.
^^ Confused hiking face.
^^ I’m as big as a tree!
Carl’s dad took us on an amazing trip down memory lane, with a trip to Philadelphia. Now, I know what your thinking, Philadelphia in the States?! why didn’t I talk more about it on my instagram?! No, this Philadelphia is a rural little gem set in Cape town. Like most little towns get their roots from here in South Africa, Philadelphia used to be a farm. Farmers used to travel great distances by horse and cart to get to church for sacrament, as a result a farmer donated a portion of his land to the church, so they could have a church right by them.
This little town is basically surrounded by the church and gives a strange twilight zone kind of feeling, as you walk the streets and see little old ladies sitting on their porch stroking their dogs, with a lit cigarette hanging from their lips, giving off a by gone era feel. You start to wonder… where is the time machine and how did I get on it? As we walked around exploring, finding out all the little stories, seeing Carl’s dad get more and more excited as he spoke to everyone he could about the town. You kind of realize its the little things that matter.
^^ I obviously missed out on the joke.
^^ We had lunch at the cutest little cafe, set right under a pepper tree. I had an amazing portobello mushroom and aubergine burger that was just out of this world.
^^ A fragrant floral arrangement for a rustic feel.
^^ These little pepper flowers kept falling on the table, so the obvious thing to do was line them up for a photo.
^^ Freshly baked bread.
^^ The town shop.
^^ I would move into this little pink house immediately.
^^ As soon as we started walking the roads seem to get busy. It doesn’t look busy in this photo, but it was busy for a little rural town.
^^ This is an old gravestone written in Dutch, the first settlers in South Africa were Dutch, after that a lot of the other European settlers came from all over Europe. This cemetery was beyond creepy. It had a double fence wrapped around the whole thing, barbed wired and locks everywhere. I was convinced they were trying to keep a zombie outbreak quiet, but apparently the children here like to vandalise the graves.
^^ All shops should have lavender in front of it.
^^ This was called a citrus juice on the menu so naturally I assumed it was their weird way of saying its orange juice, but it was actually their weird way of saying its lemonade.
^^ Carl asked for a photo, I naturally went crazy.
^^ My jump landing.
^^ The church.
^^ Father and son. Carl’s a giant.
With the help of accuweather we set out to look for snow, but all we could find was a whole lot of frost. It was still mesmerizing, so I was not mad one bit. We walked and walked looking everywhere for those magical snowflakes, but all we got were rosy cheeks and blue lips. I will not be deterred! I will see snow, its just a matter of time, until then, we will just keep exploring and falling more in love with Ireland.
^^ A frosty sidewalk, made for a slippery walk.
^^ Frosty car.
^^ It was a whole lot of the 90’s when we saw the grass and their frosted tips.
^^ Walking on thin ice is really fun.
^^ Its all about layers.
^^ I wonder what he was looking at.
^^ No, that’s not Kurt Cobain.
^^ Its MEEEE!
^^ I don’t know why I’m looking at the ground, but whatevs.
We also went on a church stalk, we literally walked up and down 3 times to see the age dynamic and vibe from the church, so if you’re in Dublin and you saw 2 suspicious people passing your church rubber necking to see what’s the deal. Hi, you just met us. We might pop in Sunday and blow your mind with this craziness.
