^^ We decided to take the train to Simon’s Town over the weekend. ¬†Definitely the most run down train I’ve ever been on, ¬†I couldn’t even see out the window.

img_4566new

^^ Lovely flowers, while walking around Simon’s Town. ¬†Such a cute little town.

img_4569new

^^ I forgot what this place was.  Might have been a coffee shop or a craft beer shop.  Could be either of those.

^^ I didn’t like the look in this birds eye while I was trying to eat a carrot stick.

^^ Our first fire was a beautiful success.  Now If only we made smores.

Hey friends! How have you been? ¬†I’ve been trying to keep my stress levels down and relax more, and mentally preparing myself for the last couple of months before our baby arrives. ¬† We still have a lot to do and didn’t even get to painting the baby’s room yet! I’ve been feeling really swamped lately, like there is not enough hours in the day to accomplish everything I need to get done! ¬†Trying to relax in our new house has also been a little difficult with all the shouting from two construction sites right next to our house, you would think the construction is loud, but no….Its the people! They’re always screaming, and whistling and just going a little bonkers, but I still love our little place!

Hopefully I get to blog more this week and get a lot done!

IMG_3812new

^^ have you ever seen an albino squirrel.  Carl spotted this guy when we left from our hike and stopped to take photos of this guy.  The most photogenic, yet scruffiest squirrel around.

IMG_3813new

^^ what a poser.

IMG_3817new

^^ We made it back down just in time,  when we got to the car it seemed like rainmagadeon .  Just look at all this rain at a nursery.

How was your weekend? We wen’t for a walk down to the beach, but it was an unbearably hot day with an unpleasant amount of people. ¬†The promenade was filled with people cycling without helmets for them and their kids? ¬†I find it so dangerous to see kids that aren’t even one yet on their parents bicycles without a helmet. ¬† Protect your precious cargo, guys! We went for a lovely quick hike around deer park again, that was basically me just running telling Carl, I need to get my exercise in and he walks to slow. ¬†It was a really great weekend, but any weekend with an albino squirrel will be interesting.

Hiking, squirrels and a lot of Picnics in Deer Park

We’ve been all about deer park lately! Its our quick lets go hiking somewhere place that’s so close to the city and just amazingly beautiful. ¬†Walking around beautiful trees, little streams, being pleasantly surprised by the endless ocean with just a touch of urban feel and being made feel small by the monstrous table mountain. ¬† After our hike we usually go find a place to sit under the trees to eat some treats and have a talk before heading back and getting started with our day. ¬†I wish I could just sit there forever.

We’ve gone to deer park quite a few times and I have not seen one deer, it feels like it should be covered in deer, maybe its an ironic name and I guess squirrel park doesn’t sound as nice.

A Picnic Date in a Forest

The other morning we set of to have a romantic picnic date at Tokai forest picnic area. ¬†The picnic area is just amazing and is a great place to run around and act like a kid again, or let your kids be kids. It was a cooler day and just the perfect weather for a lovely picnic surrounded by larger than life pine trees, fat squirrels running everywhere and little flowers popping out all over. ¬†I felt so under prepared sitting there with our little salad rolls, popcorn and one measly orange, while everyone was bbq-ing away a storm. ¬†If I had binoculars I would have been ogling out everyone’s preparedness and delicious food.

It was a perfect day to be out in nature and just enjoying each others company, ¬†I don’t know what it is about a nice cool South African winter ( Its like Autumn or Spring for the rest of the world) that makes me so giddy and just want to go explore and picnic everywhere. ¬†I couldn’t wipe the smile of my face, while sitting on the tree stump bench, eating my popcorn and watching my selfish husband find some crackers in the bag and not even offer me one, while he devours the whole lot. ¬†Next time I will definitely bring a little baggy of wood to make a fire and really cosy up to this beautiful weather, hopefully next time Carl will share a cracker with me.
