Company’s Gardens

Company’s Garden is settled right in the heart of the city, and is a huge park with a rose garden, amazing vegetable garden and lots more.  You can’t forget to buy a pack of peanuts to feed to the crazy amount of squirrels following you around. It doesn’t feel all magical and Disney like as Ireland having squirrels following you around, these squirrels seemed rough and like they would take your wallet to go buy their own peanuts.  The views of table mountain is amazing from the gardens.

The gardens were established in 1650’s by Dutch settlers and has South Africa’s first cultivated pear tree that has stood in the gardens since 1652.

Personally the park was a little bit too intense for me, the constant harassment from beggars and  people who just assume your a tourist, trying to scam you was a little bit too much for me, but poverty is a big thing here, I would probably just give the gardens a skip next time.

an instant of life captured for eternity

Life lately has been a whirlwind of adventure.  Seriously guys, its been kind of exhausting, but worth it, I’ve been having muscle pains in places I didn’t know muscles could even be at?! Its been all cliff walks, forest hikes and running to catch buses around here.  We actually crossed a highway and trekked up the most insane hill to get to Ticknock forest.  I was completely tired when I got to the parking lot of the hike entrance, but even the walk up was great we got to see the Irish sheep that’s always shown in movies and saw some amazing farms.  One of the things I love about Ireland is, how different every cliff walk or hike can be, even though they are all just a quick train ride apart.  The best part of our trip? We finally got to see snow! We did walk up a mountain to find it, but being hit in the face by soft snowflakes was worth all the trouble.

Adventuring around Dublin is wonderful you get to see so much, and still feel like there is way more to do.   Ireland is filled with so much sunshine, life, happiness, cloudiness, rain, snow and all sorts of wonder.  Being kept on your toes is good for the soul!

I feel like I’ve become a way happier person in the last month, being baptised, going to church, praying, reading scriptures has made me feel refreshed and ready for everything, but all that is for another post!

Origins Centre Museum

A week ago we went to check out the origins centre museum at wits and boy, was it worth the drive.  This creatively designed museum is really something special and is all about prehistoric man, the san people, rock art and more.

When you first arrive you receive a little handset that has commentary about the specific section, so you don’t have to stand there wandering what this specific piece is about or google it .  Informative is an understatement! The best way to kill a couple of hours, see some insane trance dancing and get lost in culture!

Learning is always fun!

We don’t bar hop, but museum hopping sure is fun and way nicer on the brain.
