^^ We decided to try the shipwreck hike….We never made it to the shipwreck..It started feeling horror movie-ish when we saw 3 dead seals, 1 dead penguin and a sand castle embellished with bones….

IMG_4009new

^^ When people say they like long walks on the beach, I guess they’ve never been surrounded by so much dead.  Carl still looks good on these sandy white beach.

^^ We got our first set of cloth diapers, I also realised that I might be a nightmare.  My sister asked me what if I have a boy and I responded by telling her color does not define gender and my child will not grow up in a hateful environment, where inappropriate comments create a confusing environment.  She stopped speaking to me after that.

^^ Walks on the beach.

Flower season has hit Cape town! This might be the most beautiful time to be in Cape town, all the wild flowers are popping out all over and we couldn’t wait to go check out the West coast nature reserve!  It was the most incredible experience ever being surrounded by so many colorful flowers, walking along deserted beaches and worrying that we were going to run out of petrol/gas! We forgot to fill the car up and the reserve was way bigger than we expected.  We started stocking up on baby things, like wet wipes, diaper liners, cloth diapers and all those wonderful things, we are starting to have quite a haul!

This weekend was really exhausting and I feel like I’m still recovering from it, being out till 7 o clock at night is just crazy to us now! #oldpeopleproblems   How was your weekend?

Take me to church…

I don’t know what it is about exploring these magnificent churches, but I just cant get enough.  The other day I was sure a church was trying to lure me in, it had candles everywhere all leading into the church, with a guy playing the guitar and to top it off, it had banners about pope Francis everywhere, but alas I was on the opposite side of the road on a busy traffic day.   I talked about all the way home, but the churches don’t even have to be as pushy as that one, with all the statues, architecture and stained glass, I just want to storm into every single one I see.  Most of these churches have beautiful parks to take long walks in and really just admire the beauty of Ireland, and don’t even get me started on the graveyards! I’m all for a walk back into time and reading tombstones of people who once were, who are a part of someone’s heritage and family history.

I would say the churches of Ireland are a must see, but everywhere you look is a church way grander than the next.  Just go for a walk and you will see a magnificent church on every corner!

St Mary’s Collegiate Church

and we are back in Dublin! After a long day of bus travel,  and cleaning the most disgusting apartment, we are finally settled in and ready to get exploring! but before I start talking about all the wonders of Dublin let’s not forget Youghal!

It was a sad goodbye leaving our home of 3 weeks, I will forever remember how clean it was, and the beautiful seaside town of Youghal, but my favourite thing in Youghal is definitely St Mary’s church! The oldest church still in service is a wonder to the eyes and imagination, surrounded by town walls that were used by the British to protect the town on the attacks of the native Irish.  These walls are the second longest stretch of town walls surviving in Ireland.  Its a magical experience standing on the town walls looking out on the ocean, the town and the beautiful church.  After the town walls, you can explore the graveyard filled with old tombstones dating back to way before you were born, unless you were a vampire.  Its great to walk around and see how loved these people were,  its family history that’s just too beautiful to miss.  The best is always saved for last and the church is surely the best part.  This church is huge, amazing details everywhere, stained glass to die for and just a beautiful place to explore.  This church would make a believer out of the biggest atheist around.

Dublin Adventure Part 2

Dublin is just such a beautiful city.  Cobblestones, old buildings, surprisingly clean and a lot of first world problem protesting going on around the city.  People walking their dogs, walking themselves or just taking the kids out for a walk.  Its definitely a beautiful walking city, a great place to get lost in with a hot beverage in your hand and adventure on your mind.  Everywhere you turn there is something interesting to stare at.

Its easy to fall head over heels in love with this crazy beautiful city.
