^^ Nature, always impressing me with its vibrant display of colour.  We should all plant bougainvillea as a fence, it will make the world so much prettier.

img_4210new

^^ Found this pretty flower on the ground.  Just look at that colour.

^^ You know your husband loves you if he is willing to carry a heavy stump back to the car, because with a little work this stump will be turned into a side table.  Thanks Carl!

^^One of my favourite photos! Feet in the forest.

Hey friends! What did you guys do this weekend? ¬†We’ve been preparing for our move in 2 weeks and trying to buy everything at just the right moment so it will be delivered on the day we move in! Hopefully it all works out perfectly, otherwise this pregnant lady will be sleeping on the floor! We decided to go to Tokai forest before they start felling, so we can walk around the forest and be happy amongst all the trees. ¬†I’m really sad that they want to cut down all the pine trees in Cape town for fynbos, but that’s just because I’m horribly allergic to it and it feels like Cape town is slowly trying to kill me, but we are only planning on staying here for a year or two so hopefully all the felling gets delayed and I get to enjoy all the trees until we leave. ¬†Hopefully!

^^ 25 weeks pregnant.  Where did my ribs go?

IMG_4109new

DSC_2218new

^^ Beautiful sunset over the ocean after a visit to family.

How was your weekend? ¬†We’ve been walking and hiking all around Sea point and lions head, before we leave for our new place at the end of the month! ¬†We decided to visit a cute little strawberry farm I remember visiting as a child, they seem to have gone completely bonkers with the amount of scarecrows the have up, and I hope they don’t get any bird attacks with all those guys around, but who knows, birds do what they want.

25 weeks pregnant and 2 days today.  WOW!  It feels like I woke up and my ribs somehow disappeared, baby has decided to move into my ribs and kick as hard as possible all the time.    Baby seems to be having a lot of fun in my womb and likes throwing parties and mosh pits on the inside daily.

How was your weekend? did you have a daily adventure? ¬†Since pokemon go’s release we’ve been watching pokemon again. ¬†Sometimes its great to feel like a kid again and watch shows from your childhood, every time they call an onigiri a jelly doughnut I laugh and laugh. ¬†Silly people. ¬†Our one year wedding anniversary is coming up in a week, a year has just flown by! We’ve been looking for the perfect paper joined gift to get, we’ve been looking all over the show for a perfect print, but we keep coming up empty. ¬†I guess the best place to look is online. ¬†What did you get for your one year wedding anniversary?

How was your weekend? After a lot of planning we finally decided to go for a walk on the beach at melkbos strand. ¬†We didn’t expect it to be so windy and sunny all at the same time, and somehow felt like we got frostbite with heatstroke all at the same time. ¬†We decided to make a run back to the car for safety! ¬†On Sunday we walked to the waterfront from our apartment, I really love walking to places I want to go, its the best way to completely experience a place and see little beautiful things as you wander around. ¬†Here is to a wonderful week!

Beach Days

The one thing about Cape town that everyone should know is, that everyday is a a beach day here. ¬†Its never that cold, even on the coldest day all I’ve needed was a thin jumper and maybe a scarf, because scarves bring any outfit together, right? ¬†And sometimes there is no need for a jumper at all! Cape town really struggles to do winter, its always trying to force its hand by showing signs of summer. ¬†I’ve really enjoyed all the flowers out and the butterflies dancing from one flower to another. ¬†Even on the dreariest day, the sun will come out eventually and blind you with how blue the sky is.

Over the weekend we headed to fishhoek beach, ¬†its got a wonderful little walk way that’s just filled with amazing scenery everywhere you look! ¬†Except when you pass a really old, extremely sun damaged man, sun bathing in the tiniest speedo you’ve ever seen, then you try not to make eye contact while shuffling away fast. ¬†Even the beach is beautifully sandy and not that packed; it just seems like the best place to play around and build some sandcastles.

DSC_1611new

^^ Sandy beaches in between the mountains.

DSC_1612new

^^ Everyone looked so happy playing around.

DSC_1616new

DSC_1627new

^^ Clear ocean with minimal kelp.

DSC_1633new

^^ This was actually a really hot day, but I was already committed to the beanie ( bad hair day) and the scarf was just meant to be.

How was your weekend? Get up to anything fun. ¬†We’ve been neighbourhood scouting, looking for an area that’s more us and out of the city. It turned out to be a really fun adventure, ¬†seeing alpacas, finding the best shop in the world that sold spaghetti squash and we even found a falafel shop. ¬†Obviously its been a great weekend, hopefully its a sign of a good week!

Boulders Beach

Over the weekend we went on a little adventure drive. ¬†With a car at our disposal there was no stopping us! We decided that the gps lady on Google maps was trying to get us to drive into a river, ¬†so we turned her off and just got to places the good old fashioned way, by looking at all the road signs and hoping you don’t miss one! We had the idea of going to Muizenberg to go have a look at the vintage changing areas, but things started progressing and somehow we ended up at boulders beach. ¬†Everything was just so close! It all just felt like one long town.

After all our fast exploring we decided to go find the penguins! So off we set going the completely wrong way and leading a whole bunch of tourist astray.  When we finally realized nothing was on this side, we turned around, watching more people go the way we came from.  We managed to find the penguins just chilling around the board-walk! Penguins are just the cutest, they are like little babies dressed in tuxedos just waddling around! We even saw a Mommy penguin feeding her baby.  They have a barrier between you and the penguins and very strict signage that warns you of the danger of biting penguins.  So I was quite happy to see these little guys from a distance.

As you continue on the little wooden path you get wowed by the amazing beach. ¬†The clearest blue waters, penguins swimming and 540 million year old granite boulders! God’s creations are truly amazing. ¬†Next time I want to have a swim with the penguins and hope they don’t bite my toes.

IMG_2859new

^^ Kelp seems to be the national smell of Cape town. ¬†I’m not a fan.

IMG_2863new

^^ Penguin just taking a nap.

IMG_2870new

^^ Clear water and a penguin cleaning himself.

IMG_2873new

^^ The water still looks beautiful even with all that kelp floating in it.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

Carl’s dad took us on an amazing trip down memory lane, with a trip to Philadelphia. ¬†Now, I know what your thinking, Philadelphia in the States?! why didn’t I talk more about it on my instagram?! No, this Philadelphia is a rural little gem set in Cape town. ¬† Like most little towns get their roots from here in South Africa, Philadelphia used to be a farm. ¬†Farmers used to travel great distances by horse and cart to get to church for sacrament, as a result a farmer donated ¬†a portion of his land to the church, so they could have a church right by them.

This little town is basically surrounded by the church and gives a strange twilight zone kind of feeling, as you walk the streets and see little old ladies sitting on their porch stroking their dogs, with a lit cigarette hanging from their lips, giving off a by gone era feel. ¬†You start to wonder… where is the time machine and how did I get on it? ¬†As we walked around exploring, finding out all the little stories, seeing Carl’s dad get more and more excited as he spoke to everyone he could about the town. ¬†You kind of realize its the little things that matter.

IMG_2791new

^^ I obviously missed out on the joke.

IMG_2800new

^^ We had lunch at the cutest little cafe, set right under a pepper tree. I had an amazing portobello mushroom and aubergine burger that was just out of this world.

IMG_2801new

^^ A fragrant floral arrangement for a rustic feel.

IMG_2803new

^^ These little pepper flowers kept falling on the table, so the obvious thing to do was line them up for a photo.

IMG_2811new

^^ Freshly baked bread.

IMG_2814new

^^ The town shop.

IMG_2816new

^^ I would move into this little pink house immediately.

IMG_2820new

^^ As soon as we started walking the roads seem to get busy. ¬†It doesn’t look busy in this photo, but it was busy for a little rural town.

IMG_2826new

^^ This is an old gravestone written in Dutch, the first settlers in South Africa were Dutch, after that a lot of the other European settlers came from all over Europe.  This cemetery was beyond creepy.  It had  a double fence wrapped around the whole thing, barbed wired and locks everywhere.  I was convinced they were trying to keep a zombie outbreak quiet, but apparently the children here like to vandalise the graves.

^^ All shops should have lavender in front of it.

DSC_1124new

^^ This was called a citrus juice on the menu so naturally I assumed it was their weird way of saying its orange juice, but it was actually their weird way of saying its lemonade.
