Experiencing the Cape Town drought has been a very humbling experience. It’s helped me think about water as something that’s precious and that should be looked after, but now that the rain have come and I’m starting to see life pop out all around me, I feel a sense of cautious relief.
Arren is such a big Mamas boy, when I’m not around he will tolerate Carl, but if he just sees any glimpse of me, he will start thrashing and turning like he never wanted Carl as his father. Continue reading
As the rest of the world is preparing for cold holiday season, here in the southern hemisphere we are getting ready for beach days. Continue reading
What do you do when you see a whale, but you’re already running really late to meet up with people? You stop of course! We couldn’t believe our luck when we saw not one whale, but two on our drive to visit some family. Continue reading
^^ Pretty flowers on our first walk around the new hood.
^^ Found this cute little conservation area close to our new house. We also found a huge snake that made me almost poop my pants.
^^ Green grass and mountains.
^^ We were really exhausted from moving from a top floor apartment, but we still took the time to go for a walk and really relax.
^^ Shrubbery everywhere.
^^ The wind was really intense and it was so humid and hot in this little conservation area it was such a drastic change.
^^ The beach close to our house.
^^ First selfie on the balcony.
Hello wonderful people! How are you all today? I hope you had a great weekend and your Monday goes by faster than it showed up!We finally moved into our new little house amongst the mountains, after a gruelling two days, thanks to the old tenants leaving this place in a horrid state and me going into must sanitise house completely for baby mode, we are finally a bit settled. I always assumed its etiquette to clean a house before you leave it? Apparently not. I’m usually 5 seconds away from leaving chocolates on the pillows for new tenants when I leave a place. With all the chaos and our internet not being set up yet we haven’t watched general conference yet, but with instagram always showing us little snippets it seems like a good one! I can’t wait to watch it.
This pregnancy has brought out a horrible monster inside of me, I just can’t stop ignorance and silly comments to do with the fact that we don’t want to know the baby’s gender, that we want to keep things gender neutral even though we’ve been getting boy coloured outfits that just boggles my mind and the fact that I don’t want kitschy character printed outfits. I never understand why people have to say obscene, hurtful, ignorant things and afterwards say they’re only joking, its like Freud says: There are no jokes. Well not in circumstances like this most of the time people just say what they want not worrying how it comes across just so they can cover it up with saying its a joke. Why can’t we all just be respectful? Is it really that hard? Pregnancy hormone rant over!
^^ Pretty clouds over lions head.
^^ Probably our last hike at lions head.
^^ Raw beetroot ravioli stuffed with sunflower cheese.
^^ Pretty succulents.
^^ Roses popping out.
^^ A walk on the promenade.
Hello friends! How are you doing? Did you get up to anything this weekend. We had a horrible weekend where nothing wanted to work out, I almost got knocked off the trail on lions head thanks to the trail runners not worrying about anyone else, and to top it off it was such an insanely hot day before 10 that I started feeling like food in a microwave just slowly cooking away getting radiated. I’m really not looking forward to Summer back in Africa, but I’m trying to survive by having my eye on the prize.
^^ The bees are all out and and about enjoying all the almost spring flowers.
^^ Pretty flowers on our walk to the beach.
^^ Pretty ocean, we are convinced this ship is sinking.
^^ have you ever seen an albino squirrel. Carl spotted this guy when we left from our hike and stopped to take photos of this guy. The most photogenic, yet scruffiest squirrel around.
^^ what a poser.
^^ We made it back down just in time, when we got to the car it seemed like rainmagadeon . Just look at all this rain at a nursery.
^^ Amazing skies.
^^ Really blue water.
^^ another pretty sunset.
^^ Checking out the flowers while Carl takes a photo. He always takes so long to take a photo. Hence the face.
How was your weekend? We wen’t for a walk down to the beach, but it was an unbearably hot day with an unpleasant amount of people. The promenade was filled with people cycling without helmets for them and their kids? I find it so dangerous to see kids that aren’t even one yet on their parents bicycles without a helmet. Protect your precious cargo, guys! We went for a lovely quick hike around deer park again, that was basically me just running telling Carl, I need to get my exercise in and he walks to slow. It was a really great weekend, but any weekend with an albino squirrel will be interesting.
^^ Found the best organic shop with the most amazing rye bread ever.
^^ I love this little guy.
^^ I can’t seem to find clothes that fit me here. There workout pants even look baggy and like they want to fall right off.
^^ After hike salad on rye.
^^ My favourite green smoothie with a view.
^^ Veggie sushi dates. Its really hard to make sushi with an average knife.
^^ Wise words before our hike.
^^ Pretty proteas. We’ve actually discovered that I’m horribly allergic to fynbos and these guys, so basically I’m allergic to the entire Cape town. yay, for me!
Rocks stacked up.
^^ I was on high frog alert on this walk.
^^ End of hike jump!
How was your weekend? We decided to go all military planning on Cape town, thanks to everything closing at 13:00 on a Saturday here, I find it really inconvenient and strange, but we found the cutest little charity bookshop really close to us that sells books at a ridiculous price. We went for a walk around our neighbourhood that made me wonder why humans have to make everything so ugly. On Sunday we decided to try and go for a hike on the cloudiest most stormy day, just to get out of this horrible apartment, sometimes walking in nature can turn a bad weekend into a magical one.
Over the weekend we decided to go for a beach walk, we wanted to go for the walk we went with, with Carl’s dad, but instead got so incredibly lost and just couldn’t find the right spot. We kept trying to remember the conversation we had and the exact route, but we just couldn’t get there. Eventually we decided it was time to just get out and go for a walk. As soon as I got out of the car I wanted to get back in, the wind was piercingly cold and the sun was so hot, it was a mix of emotions and feeling I just couldn’t really figure out, but we kept walking and I was rewarded with the most beautiful view of table mountain I’ve ever seen. The mountain with ocean, and gentle floating seagulls made me want to go get an ice cream and just forget all my troubles. Next time I’ll definitely wear a bigger coat or just wait for a not so windy day to go play around!
^^ No amount of product could keep Carl’s hair in place.
^^ My wonky hand.
^^ If my bicycle had flowers in the basket I would ride it everyday.
^^ pretty colours.
^^ Best view.
