With every day that passes it’s starting to turn more and more yellow, and I’m loving it. There sure is something magical about Fall. Continue reading
Hello Third Trimester! I can’t believe I’ve made it to the third trimester, I feel like this pregnancy is just flying by and I’m just sitting here trying to enjoy it as much as I can. I know a lot of woman if not all hate pregnancy, but I’m loving it! Growing a healthy baby is an amazing feeling, sometimes a little bit alien and weird, but mostly just amazing! Feeling my baby kick inside me and sometimes flip around like a tiny gymnast is a wonderful feeling, the baby has even started kicking for Carl, not on demand, baby still stops kicking as soon as Carl touches my belly, but when Carl starts talking to baby, the kicking continues.
Symptoms : I’ve been really lucky and I haven’t had any serious symptoms throughout this pregnancy (knock on wood). Maybe its because I’m feeding my body only good nutrients, not having any sugar and cut down on gluten, but I feel great! My mood has been a little iffy, I sometimes get irrational anger towards Carl and the weird things he does at dinner table. I’m sleeping pretty great and wake up feeling refreshed, I really hope it stays that way! Baby seems to sleep at night and kick the living daylights out of me during the day. I also made the decision not to have anything to do with stress, and not seeing any negative people that make me feel bad until this baby is born. Its been one of the best decisions I’ve made, I’m putting my baby’s health and my health first, and I’ve seen the positive way I feel since deciding this. I want to continue staying, healthy and strong ;physically and emotionally for my home birth in December! I’ll see you negative Nancy’s in December!
Cravings: I haven’t been craving anything really. I’m eating healthy meals, often. I did find the most amazing all natural peanut butter, that’s made with all natural ingredients, including flax seed oil that I haven’t been able to get enough of. Its just amazing! I recommend oh mega peanut butter to everyone! Its just amazing!
Exercise: I’ve been exercising every day for 30 – 40 minutes. Light Cardio, some weight training and Pilates during the week. On the weekend Carl and I like to go for a hour and half hike or walk.
Looking forward to: I’m looking forward to getting the nursery ready! I can’t wait to get into our new place to get painting and setting up for baby.
All in all, I’m feeling pretty great about the pregnancy, birth and becoming a Mother. I’m really excited to hold my baby in my arms and make our earthly adventure even more exciting.
^^ Nature, always impressing me with its vibrant display of colour. We should all plant bougainvillea as a fence, it will make the world so much prettier.
^^ Found this pretty flower on the ground. Just look at that colour.
^^ Walks in Tokai forest. They are planning on felling all these trees. It brings a lot of sadness to my tree hugging heart.
^^ Find beauty everywhere.
^^ We found a log to sit on to enjoy our little picnic lunch. Kale salad and almonds for me and a rye bread sandwich for him.
^^ Enjoying his sandwich.
^^ You know your husband loves you if he is willing to carry a heavy stump back to the car, because with a little work this stump will be turned into a side table. Thanks Carl!
^^ Pretty flowers on a walk to the waterfront. A contrast of colours.
^^One of my favourite photos! Feet in the forest.
Hey friends! What did you guys do this weekend? We’ve been preparing for our move in 2 weeks and trying to buy everything at just the right moment so it will be delivered on the day we move in! Hopefully it all works out perfectly, otherwise this pregnant lady will be sleeping on the floor! We decided to go to Tokai forest before they start felling, so we can walk around the forest and be happy amongst all the trees. I’m really sad that they want to cut down all the pine trees in Cape town for fynbos, but that’s just because I’m horribly allergic to it and it feels like Cape town is slowly trying to kill me, but we are only planning on staying here for a year or two so hopefully all the felling gets delayed and I get to enjoy all the trees until we leave. Hopefully!
^^ Yes, a blurry photos, but out of the hundreds of photos Carl takes 80 % of them has a finger in them, is blurry beyond believe, or just looks odd. He’s getting better, at taking photos so I’ll give him that.
^^ Forest walks, it doesn’t get better.
^^ i was trying to put the camera away, but Carl wanted to take a photo. Photo pose time.
^^ A little bit of green popping out. Can you find a four leaved one?
^^ Cute little mushroom.
^^ A waterfall popping out. Not seen, the man and his dog in the river, why? I don’t know.
^^ Roots everywhere. We should really start taking lessons from nature. Endure no matter what.
^^ Pretty flowers.
^^ Leaves everywhere.
^^ I was ranting about the fact that I can’t find pants that fit me and it was so easy to find good looking pants in Ireland. This looks like his stop talking about pants face. Even my workout pants started slipping off on our hike.
^^ Sandwich break! German Rye bread with a butterbean spread and lots of salad. Really Yum!
^^ Carl approves!
^^ Lilies popping out everywhere!
How was your weekend? We’ve been house hunting with not much luck here, everyone seems to want 2 months deposit, the rent and the soul of your first born child. Its not like we’re buying! We just want to rent a house, nowhere else we’ve lived has given us so much nonsense. In Ireland we just paid cash, gave them the deposit and we secured the place like that. In Joburg we only had to pay the deposit to secure the place, but our Realtor is the most helpful British man around, he told us its harder to rent in Cape town, because of the relax living here, people apparently just forget to pay rent, and completely trash the places. I’ve never heard of anyone just forgetting to pay rent, it just seems obscene! We still have faith and hope that we will find the perfect place for us. Hopefully soon!
We’ve been all about deer park lately! Its our quick lets go hiking somewhere place that’s so close to the city and just amazingly beautiful. Walking around beautiful trees, little streams, being pleasantly surprised by the endless ocean with just a touch of urban feel and being made feel small by the monstrous table mountain. After our hike we usually go find a place to sit under the trees to eat some treats and have a talk before heading back and getting started with our day. I wish I could just sit there forever.
We’ve gone to deer park quite a few times and I have not seen one deer, it feels like it should be covered in deer, maybe its an ironic name and I guess squirrel park doesn’t sound as nice.
^^ walking down on a dreary day
^^ A little stream among the trees. I almost broke my neck after this photo I turned around and didn’t see a gigantic rock, but somehow managed to save myself from serious injury. Carl grabbed my arm somewhere in between all the commotion.
^^ I really didn’t want to get wet.
^^ Raise the roof or raise the mountain.
^^ Half of table mountain.
^^This guy is always just so cool.
^^ Stacking rocks.
^^ Carl contributing to the rock stack. Good job.
^^ Such an expert at walking over a stream that he can strike a pose.
^^ Hikes all over the show.
^^ an picnics afterwards. I really prepared for this one! Raw veggies, salad rolls, crackers, dip, chips and my favourite of the moment. Sparkling water. So good.
^^we saw these little guys while being lost. The cutest little alpacas ever, just acting like dogs, walking around someones garden.
^^ Pretty little flowers all around.
^^ The bees were loving these flowers, I can’t blame them they look tasty to me too.
^^ Beautiful beach days.
^^ Clear ocean with minimal kelp.
^^ This was actually a really hot day, but I was already committed to the beanie ( bad hair day) and the scarf was just meant to be.
How was your weekend? Get up to anything fun. We’ve been neighbourhood scouting, looking for an area that’s more us and out of the city. It turned out to be a really fun adventure, seeing alpacas, finding the best shop in the world that sold spaghetti squash and we even found a falafel shop. Obviously its been a great weekend, hopefully its a sign of a good week!
The other morning we set of to have a romantic picnic date at Tokai forest picnic area. The picnic area is just amazing and is a great place to run around and act like a kid again, or let your kids be kids. It was a cooler day and just the perfect weather for a lovely picnic surrounded by larger than life pine trees, fat squirrels running everywhere and little flowers popping out all over. I felt so under prepared sitting there with our little salad rolls, popcorn and one measly orange, while everyone was bbq-ing away a storm. If I had binoculars I would have been ogling out everyone’s preparedness and delicious food.
It was a perfect day to be out in nature and just enjoying each others company, I don’t know what it is about a nice cool South African winter ( Its like Autumn or Spring for the rest of the world) that makes me so giddy and just want to go explore and picnic everywhere. I couldn’t wipe the smile of my face, while sitting on the tree stump bench, eating my popcorn and watching my selfish husband find some crackers in the bag and not even offer me one, while he devours the whole lot. Next time I will definitely bring a little baggy of wood to make a fire and really cosy up to this beautiful weather, hopefully next time Carl will share a cracker with me.
^^ Sandwich enjoyment face.
^^ The cutest little face. The picnic area is perfect for bbq-ing (braaing).
^^ Nature is so cute.
^^ Picnic food ready to be devoured.
^^ Larger than life trees.
^^ Yummy popcorn face.
^^ Surrounded by trees.
^^ Pretty little flowers everywhere.
^^ a squirrel leftover picnic food.
^^ Pretty green.
^^ Things on toast….A delicious German bread with tomatoes. Is it still bruschetta if its on German bread? I’ll call it Gruschetta?
^^ Woodland critters… Can you spot the squirrel?
^^ Spot the squirrel…..Hikes and talks around deer park.
^^ Weird little bridge over the little stream.
^^ Lions head. This is suppose to look like a lion sphinx.
^^ Pierogi dough getting ready to be made into delicious polish treats.
^^ Two different kinds of pierogies. Sauerkraut and squash, equally as good.
Its been raining here for the last couple of days, and I’m loving these cooler days. Its finally starting to feel a tad like winter, I would call it late fall kind of weather, but this will have to do. So bring on the hot cocoa and cuddly days, with wonderful hikes that don’t require me to die of heat stroke!
^^ Lookouts at Cape point.
^^ nature all over the place.
^^ Magical ocean.
^^ Big tree.
^^ Found these little wooden guys all over a hike. I think its a fire prevention sign? You know what would work better? A real one.
^^ Proteas everywhere we go.
^^ Placing a rock on top of this little tower.
Happy Monday everybody! How was your weekend? Mine was good. We’re busy, busy, busy. Trying to figure out our future, and what we can do now to improve things. Life is a whirlwind over here and we are just hoping to make it out in one piece! We had a fun weekend filled with a visit to Cape point, hiking and Asian grocery store visits. Here is to another week!
