Arren has become really finicky about food. If he can’t feed himself he just wont eat and sometimes I just don’t feel like cleaning up the walls, floor and ceiling when he’s done feeding himself soft food.
He’s slowly getting better at using a spoon, but eventually he still gives up and uses his spoon God gave him….his trusty hand, which makes the biggest mess ever, but it makes him happy so who am I to complain.
On days I don’t feel like hosing down the house after Arren has had a meal, I make these french toast sticks, it’s one of the foods Arren has giving a big stamp of approval on. He loves it! and because they are allergy friendly you know it’s got this Mamas stamp of approval too.
Now I know what you’re thinking, how the heck do you make french toast without egg? won’t it taste completely different? This french toast is make using chickpea flour so you have your added protein without losing taste, Carl doesn’t even taste a difference! and he loves his egg.
BABY LED WEANING: FRENCH TOAST STICKS
- 1 tbsp chickpea flour
- 1/4 – 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup water or non dairy milk
- 2 slices bread
In a bowl mix together the flour, cinnamon, vanilla and water or milk. It’s okay if you have a little bit of lumps still left.
Dip the bread into the mixture and cook on a pan until both sides are golden brown.
Cut into strips, let cool for baby and enjoy!
